‘Tis the season for warm scarves, heavy coats, and making a list of things that we’d like others to give us for the holidays. But this time of year is also extremely important to reflect on what we have and what others don’t – and how we can help those who many not get to experience the same joyful celebrations that we have for Hanukkah or Christmas.
Giving back and supporting others is such an important part of my life and I greatly urge others to do this same. Every December for the Christmas season I like to buy gifts for kids whose families can’t afford to get them anything. The Toys for Tots Foundation is a great organization to support that brings these gifts to the kids!
Toys for Tots is run by the Marine Corps Reserve and takes place every year, collecting and distributing toys in many different communities. They collect new and unwrapped toys throughout the fall and December and distribute them as Christmas gifts to less fortunate children in these communities.
If you live in Los Angeles County, the Salvation Army Southern California are accepting donations for Toys for Tots in their stores, but make sure to call ahead before dropping toys off!
