For this year’s fall fashion, the focus is on luxe basics with dynamic and elegant accessories. Focusing on plush fabrics and neutral tones will make anyone’s wardrobe ready for fall—plus, adding an adorable kitten-heeled mule or a timeless pair of gemstone earrings will have everyone wondering how to capture your style. Some of these designers and pieces have been long-time favorites, while others are trending hardcore for this upcoming season. I hope my favorites for autumn can become your favorites, too!
Kym’s fall fashion favorites for 2017:
Anthony Thomas Melillo
ATM always does the basic look best with luxurious fabrics and incredible fits. You can never go wrong with a classic look composed of basics, and the best place to turn to for such is ATM. Melillo takes basic silhouettes and uses high quality material, striking texture, and rich hues to turn them up a notch. You may be wearing a classic white-tee or a staple trench coat, but with ATM clothing, you’ll still be turning heads.
I love Raquel Allegra! Born and raised in California, Allegra has a style that definitely speaks to me. Her collections are comprised of breezy silhouettes and creamy colors that mimic the classic SoCal vibe, but she also has amazing tie dye prints that are coveted among fashion industry. She’s always pushing the limitations on fabrications, and if you want a mix of laid back and edgy, Allegra might just be the designer for you.
I buy Norma Kamali every season—she’s a veteran in fashion and not one to be missed. Creating designs for the strong and powerful woman, Kamali’s pieces have strong cuts, dramatic details, but also a hint of playfulness that balances work and fun. Kamali’s designs remind me of a powerful executive that isn’t afraid to show off some creativity, and will definitely add a punch to any wardrobe.

This French designer always has the perfect mix of girly and rock & roll, and her fall/winter 2017 collection is no exception. The mix of the flattering mini-skirt in a beautiful fall inspired leather, mixed with a fun pattern or pearl-adorned textiles makes her juxtaposed outfits simply perfect. Her style oozes ‘cool girl’ confidence, and is definitely a must have for this season.
I am a huge proponent of the classic black bootie for fall time. These three boot styles from Alexander Wang and Officine Creative are the perfect accessory to take you from summer to fall. Intricate details such as buttons, or a gold cut-out heel, add dimension to the boot and will add the perfect amount of flair to any ensemble. Not only are these boots beautiful, but black leather is a hard worker and will withstand any element season after season—just make sure you protect them with some leather conditioner!
I love a good mule! You can wear them with jeans to transition from day into night, or pair them with your favorite trouser and wear them around the office. They are extremely versatile and have been a huge trend this year. The flirty flair they add to a more casual outfit elevates your most basic pieces, or they can add the finishing touches to a more done-up look. Mules come in so many shapes and sizes, and they even come with faux fur or delicate and detailed embroidery, so there is certainly a pair out there for everyone.
I’ve been buying Gabrielle Sanchez for years. Her earrings are made from gorgeous stones, and also come in a pearl variation. They are simple and classic enough to be worn everyday, for any occasion. However, they are a bit upscale and add a touch of elegance to a basic outfit. These pieces are staples that you will wear for years to come, and Sanchez’s designs are definitely some of my fall must-haves.

When the weather changes, although admittedly it doesn’t change much here in California, I always get the urge to add some new pieces to my wardrobe. These pieces and designers have always been favorites, but their new seasonal collections never disappoint, which always justifies a little autumnal shopping. I hope that this list inspires your next purchases and helps to enhance your wardrobe!
