Getting Back in the Healthy Mind Set for 2018

Happy New Year! I love celebrating the New Year and starting fresh. After weeks of holiday parties and family visits, it’s nice when everything finally settles down. I like to take some time to get into the healthy mind set: sit back, relax, and focus on getting my mind, body, and spirit healthy and strong – because if you don’t take care of yourself, how can you take care of everyone or everything else that is important to you?

One of the ways that I like to keep in the healthy mind set is by drinking “rejuvenation water,” a recipe of mine that is the perfect way to start the day and is simple to make. By drinking something that is fresh and energizing in the morning, you’re much more likely to continue to eat and act healthy throughout the day! So instead of something sugary like processed orange juice, which will make you feel sluggish once that sugar energy wears off, I like to start my mornings by drinking a refreshing glass of rejuvenation water.

Here is my rejuvenation water recipe to get into the healthy mind set:

  • Glass of water
  • Juice from one lemon
  • Springs of mint (to taste)
  • Ginger
  • A sprinkle of turmeric
  • Ice

Not only is this tasty and fresh, but it has healthy benefits as well! Lemon has tons of Vitamin C, which will help keep your skin glowing and boost your immune system; turmeric is good for inflammation (and the immune system); ginger is good for your stomach; and mint adds flavor and is also good for digestion. If you need a little sweetness in your water, add a little bit of raw honey, which also has amazing benefits for your overall health. And if you plan on drinking this every day, you can make a batch and keep it in your fridge with a fruit infuser to really bring out that ginger, lemon, and mint flavor.
